What's that equation on the top you say?
Figure it out... Long story short... Most people who work around Nassau (aside from the teachers and the info desk of course). Most likely know almost nothing about the campus and do no good to us but provide us food... that's It.
Okay so yes. I was right about my back to back art classes. I'm definitely looking forward to the upcoming days. There were things I loved about the classes. But the negatives definitely stood out pretty quick. So let me get those out of the way.
Why is it that, all of these graphic design seniors or juniors, or whatever, always have to carry themselves like they know everything. They walk around so freaking confident about their knowledge about everything and always throw in their own smart little remarks during the class time. Great your amazing at Photoshop. You've made it pretty clear that you're well above the advanced level of everyone in the class.
"Now shut the hell up with your fun little quirky 'oh just to let you know because I know and you obviously don't' remarks and just like... sit there... and be awesome at photoshop to yourself. Smug bastards..."
It's Annoying...
For my painting class, everything there is peachy aside from the fact that there are only like... 5 guys in probably the little over 20 roster. Now I don't have a problem with girls or anything but I just felt a little awkward with the majority. But just like the boring first day card says, "Give it all time."
"I should really be focusing more on how to blow up the upcoming project rather than how many girls are in the class anyway..."
Speaking of the upcoming project. We're going to attempt to immitate impressionist masterpiece paintings within the up and coming three weeks. I'm not sure if we'll have class time to do it, but yeah, three weeks is our time gap starting now I guess. Gotta hurry and buy all of those paints and supplies now!
The piece I chose to do from the various piles of scanned masterpieces my professor threw at us to dig in is the piece:
Undergrowth with Two Figures by Vincent Van Gogh
This one for a first project is gonna be a toughy because I've never used Acrylics before... And now I'm being asked to use it on a 20x30 canvas!? You have NO idea how excited I am. ^^
But back to my Graphic Design class. This class is something I've truly needed for a while now. Electronic imaging last semester was a great introduction to Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. But I truly wanted to gain better knowledge in Photoshop instead of using this Gimp program that I've grown very used to. Also the fact that Gimp hardly compares to the potential of Photoshop.
The Gimp Program is a decent picture editing and manipulating software, but it can be a little stiff around the edges with some of its processes. Although I'm not one to rate on quality of picture manipulating programs, the 2 or 3 years I've messed around with Gimp keeps me confident to say that it's a decent program. Fun and simple to use. Straight forward non the less.
So yes! My first day with my two art classes was interesting. I was completely uncomfortable throughout the start of the classes not because of the negatives I stated, but because I was intimidated. Aside from my graphics teacher being a little blunt and strict with his stern intro to the class who actually seems kinda cool really, I was plainly just intimidated.
"Took me a while to understand why but I realized it was because I was in a totally new atmosphere that I've only ventured in for so long with my art."
I feel I'm well below average with the skill these two classes are demanding of me and for once I've come to see that I'm a little bit out of my element. But that's not to say that I'm not gonna try my best to attempt to do amazing pieces... If anything, me being generally new to these subjects gives me more of a reason to use my talents and expand my skill of mediums.
"I'm so frikkin' excited..."
