Sunday Blogulating

Blog [01/18/09]
This entry is me blogging on the bus. On the AK Notepad Application I recently just downloaded on my Google Phone. I've had the phone for about a week now and decided to keep it. I wasn't completely in love with it at first. As much as I see a couple of my friends who have the phone themselves, I wasn't completely sold. But I've eased into it...

"No divorce papers to sign, we're gonna work it out so that it's Johnny and his G1 this year.
"

Optimism is the key word for me this year because I feel as if I've been attracting negative energy all month. Or at least, I've been finding myself around it. But I'm keeping my head high because I really do have better things to stress about and I'm making things go my way this year and that's that!

So yes, I've been busy this whole winter vacation. But I'm sad to say, the completely unproductive kind of busy. Although I enjoyed my winter break with the people I love, I'm sure i could have managed my time better. I've been working on my art on and off and haven't really gotten to where I expected myself to be at the end of it. Which is now. But non-the-less, new ideas and ambitions have risen for me to work on this year. I'm happy I got somewhere for starters.

One of the more amazing memories of my break were the times my friends and I had at the Bryant Park rink for ice-skating and just simply frolicking in the city during ungodly hours. But one amazing time I specifically wanted to post was the time we spent at Central Park until almost one o'clock in the morning.

My adventurous side was rekindled walking in the dark and the gloomy... and forboding forest-like surroundings the park and the time of day offered to us. Strolling through pitch black roads, making ungodly noises, taking ungodly pictures and standing around places you know you shouldn't be standing around in to begin with,

"simply pleased my soul..."

We let our imaginations run loose in our conversations of a late night stroll in central park suddenly becoming a fight for survival as ravenous zombie creatures (specifically those from the 28 days later series) came after us.

"Which of course, doesn't sound as fun anymore."

As the energy of the conversations fluctuated as we passed by a couple of the park's monuments, in the back of my head I knew that this was a once in a rare day's chance for me to remember the night as more than just a spontaneous stroll. At that we hopped down the Naumburg Bandshell, walked down toward the famous stairs and into the dimly lit underpass before the Bethesda Fountain. Walking through and seeing the underpass as we've never seen it before, shivering in the 15 degrees New York weather, part of the group cautioned that we may run into park officials that may wish to kick us out because of the hour.
Still bright eyed and astonished at the scene, I ran ahead and jumped right into the Bethesda Fountain and urged at this rare chance for the group to get a picture inside the fountain itself.
And there we were...

So we continued onward toward the direction of the boat rental shack and the restaurant that I had never been into because it seems too fancy for me. But then again I wouldn't know because I've never been inside... or that fancy...

But continuing with the night time adventure... We were walking towards the direction of The Rambles. Which was directed by the sign that we took a moment's glance at when Castle Belvedere shoved it's ancient derierre right into the front of my skull and out of my over excited mouth. We were still hungry for one more amazing place to be in and this was it!
So I lead the group hoping that it was towards the right direction, digging through my memory of my last daytime experience in central park (which was late may-early june of 2008). And for once, luck was on my side as it was the right direction and we found ourselves in a rare glimpse of one of central park's most famous monuments during an amazing time of winter at an amazing time of day. So over-excited me decided to capture the moment.

Simply amazing really.
Not the most flattering of videos,
but the moment was captured on camera and

"I'll always remember how excited I felt. "

We stayed there a little longer and just took in the site and the time of day. Basically, we were all just exhausted from the day itself and personally, I feel it did each member of the group some good. Although afterward I think I got a little too sentimental and over-excited afterward. Everyone seemed to be too tired to want to do anything else but go home. And of course, I was bitter. But not for long as I realized it really was getting late. Which was good because non of us got home until past 3 in the morning taking the transit home.

To think that I had such an amazing day only five days ago now. Time really is flying by me, although the time of the year eases down the "time flying by" effect.

All the better for me because 2009 New York Comic-Con!
"HERE I COME!!!"

Oh boy are you on the top of my to do list!
And I had to put this picture on this blog.

Starting Things Up

I'm very happy that I can work on my stories these days.
Especially for the fact that I can work on my favorite thing; Making Comics. I've been falling into the world of it all again, only this time, Graphic Novels are beginning to consume my interest. I'm well behind on my issues though now that I think of it. Haven't picked up an issue since... late august?

""I Digress."

But yes! I recently bought Will Eisner's Graphic Storytelling and Visual Narrative (like a week ago now). Will Eisner truly is a master.
I'm halfway through reading it and I'm confident I'll be reading it again. Eisner has some very helpful breakdowns to what Graphic Storytelling really is about and the essential connection between the artist and his reader.

"Generally I'm just hungry for books. Hungry for knowledge."

I want to know what else I can discern. What else I can associate with my craft to make it all the more better. I realized that I want to grow my skill as a writer. Become a better storyteller and make my stories hit that nerve with my audience. Maybe one day, but for now, I'll stay in my own little workshop called my room.

To start of the year, here's a story that I've been working on. It's actually still in conception, because I truly have no idea where to go with this story. It's just a fun little short story I did to get things started, and simply just warm up to all of the other fun short stories I want to work into this book.

[picture here]

Which!, by the way, I got at the MOMA store in Soho for three bucks! It's 10.25x7 and simply a white book with so many pages to ejaculate many of my short stories on that I just couldn't say no to this boring white book that wasn't even made for comics anyway.
ALSO my mom had the nerve to put an apple she had just eaten on top of the thin cover and the moisture from it almost bled through the first page that I slaved on with the details. I was so angry that I kept my rant to her short and sweet before I ran upstairs and said some horribly unecessary things. She had the nerve to say
Oh you scared me, I thought it was something serious.

"grr... #$@#%@$"

Anyways, it's called Charlie Orange (love the title).
Not much happens in this story but that it leaves the reader questioning what is Charlie Orange REALLY about? for now I can't answer that. As of now, Charlie Orange is just in the mix of my short stories that I want to put down for possible future reference.
So here's the first two pages I've done.

The pages aren't completely finished yet, obviously from the empty box of the first page and the pending detail I want to put on the second page. But it's mainly just small necessities that I'm sure you guys can comprehend what's going on without them.

well, time get ready for work.

"09, I'm so happy you've arrived. You can sleep in my bed tonight.
I'm sure you won't mind if I sleep next to you."
:)
